The USBSwiper system default product settings for products you just enter from the Virtual Terminal page directly are set as non-taxable as most of our merchants already have tax added in to their product totals from their POS system.
If that is the way you process payments you do not need to follow steps below. But if you do have taxable products, you will want to continue reading and setup taxable and non-taxable products.
STEPS TO CREATE PRODUCTS THAT ARE TAXABLE
Please go into your back, office system and click on PRODUCTS
Add a Product called TAXABLE – click the check box that says “taxable” – Make the amount of the product $1.00
Add a Product called NON-TAXABLE – leave that checkbox blank – Make the amount of the product $1.00
(you can also create actual products with their names and actual $$ amounts as well – the above is just a quick way to create default taxable and non-taxable templates)
Save the products
PROCESSING a TAXABLE PRODUCT Payment:
In the VT when you add a product, in the “search product” field, type the first 3 characters “TAX” and you will see a dropdown menu of Taxable and Non-Taxable Products
Click on which one the product is and then you can change the name to what the product actually is and update the dollar amount.
In the tax field further down the form you will see where you can enter the tax percentage amount. (you can also setup tax rules and default tax amounts in the back office as well)
Under this system, if you add a Taxable and Non-Taxable product into the products area, tax will only be calculated on the taxable product.
